Subject: Please consider nonlethal wolf management solutions

Message:

Dear Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission and Governor Brown, As an Oregonian who values our wildlife and wild spaces, I do not support the current draft changes to the Oregon Wolf Conservation and Management Plan. This plan does not reflect the best available science for effective carnivore recovery and management, and it does not reflect the values of the majority of Oregonians. I urge you to consider stronger nonlethal solutions for wolf/livestock interactions and to adhere to the best available science on wolf recovery and conflict resolutions. We want a plan that reflects the values of Oregonians—a majority of whom oppose wolf hunting and trapping. Please consider making a stronger commitment to better manage for a more biodiverse Oregon and protect carnivores on the landscape. There are proven effective non-lethal solutions that should be more readily encouraged. Please also consider looking at ways to improve dispersal routes and connectivity to allow wolves to more safely and effectively disperse into the more than 80% of suitable habitat for wolves that is currently unoccupied. Prioritizing connectivity on the landscape is one way to protect prey species’ migration routes and to allow for wolves to better disperse across the landscape. Sincerely,
